This study aims to find behaviours and needs of urban cyclists with the purpose of helping in the planning and design of new bicycle infrastructure in cities worldwide. Thousands kilometers of trips was used in this study and all this data was collected by real urban cyclists who tracked their bicycle trip playing KAPPO.
KAPPO is a unique mobile social game designed to encourage users to use their bicycles more often by be in contact with their friends and cyclists around the world. It mixed the addictive successful social games features with GPS tracking technology, actually the only way to level up, unlock new virtual equipments and play is riding your real bicycle.
Cyclists are the early adopters of the city, they know where the fastest, safer and less polluted routes are. So including them in the decisions making process will become cities a little more smarter.
